Framer

You may have heard of no-code apps and services before. They are quite popular these days. And some of them are really impressive. If you’re unfamiliar with them, they are apps that let you create websites without writing any code. Some of the most well-known examples are Wix, Webflow, and Framer.

With these apps, you don’t need to learn HTML and Javascript to build a website. You just need to spend a day or two getting familiar with the web app, and then you can create your own website with a few clicks.

I’ve tried some of the most popular and promising no-code apps myself. And I have to say, Framer is my favorite. It was very easy to learn with the help of some video tutorials (they come with Framer).

Of course, having some web developer skills helped me a lot. I only needed an hour to get comfortable with Framer. But even if you don’t have any coding skills, don’t worry, this editor is the easiest one I have tried. And that’s the whole point of no-code apps. They let anyone create their own websites. Simple and fast.

Framer is also free to try, learn and use. You can pay if you want a custom domain or hide the 'Framer-Banner'. But even then, it is the cheapest of all the abovementioned services.

Responsive in just a few clicks

One of the challenges designers and developers face, is to make the website look good on desktop and mobile devices. As a developer, you have to define how content is re-arranged on small screens. Framer makes this so easy. If you build your website with so-called 'Stacks', it is a matter of a few clicks to move content from horizontal to vertical, or vice-versa.

Above is a horizontal stack (both text boxes are aligned horizontally)
Below is the same stack after just two clicks.

This small thing saves so much time. And at no point is code involved.

If coding is your thing though, you actually can go deep and create things, that are not possible with standard Framer. The editor is using React underneath and gives you access to pretty much everything you need, to implement your own React components.

I want you to give it a try

This post should not be too long and boring. I just wanted to let you know, that Framer is a great piece of software, and that you should give it a spin. By the way, it runs in the browser and is available as a desktop app. Your choice.

If you like it and want to take it a step further, I would appreciate it, if you use my Affiliate link.
